The latest trends, state-of-the-art technologies and the best that is being done in terms of sustainability and efficiency. These were the reasons that brought more than 40 thousand visitors to Fispal 2023, the largest food event of the year in all Latin America. Somengil, as it could not be otherwise, was present in yet another edition. We made our contribution by sharing the latest innovations in the field of washing, and saw what innovative companies from around the world are working on. This is the summary of one of the major events of the year, a must to understand where the market is going.

1. IoT: will it finally reach its potential?

IoT was one of Fispal’s strong points and it’s easy to understand why. It is estimated that the market value of the internet of things will reach 15 billion dollars by 2025, with the potential to revolutionize the production and distribution chains of products, from monitoring, quality control and tracking to intelligent stock management. The goals are, of course, to gain efficiency, reduce costs and provide more assurance of food safety.

Despite the clear growth trend, there is still a long way to go before IoT reaches its full potential, something that was clear at the fair. Some 86% of companies in sectors such as oil & gas, transportation and agriculture do not take advantage of the data collected through IoT – despite storing more information than ever before. The same report indicates that one in 3 companies has no IoT strategy or plans for its adoption – despite most managers recognizing its importance and its impact on efficiency gains.

At Fispal, the focus was on the practical implementation of IoT to help companies see the potential of this technology. This is the case of solutions to trace the origin of food to final delivery, allowing consumers to know the processes involved in the products they are buying. IoT sensors can be used to monitor food quality in real time, controlling factors such as temperature, humidity, and storage conditions. Not to mention the possibility of monitoring customer behavior in stores, providing information about their preferences and shopping habits, and thus allowing retailers to offer more targeted promotions and recommendations.

2. Plant-based products, more and more to the consumers’ taste

Another of the major global trends that were highlighted at Fispal. Consumers’ growing interest in plant-based foods meets health and environmental sustainability concerns. It is estimated that the market value will more than triple by 2030, as the number of alternatives to meat also grow.

In this sense, Fispal has reinforced the attention that companies must pay to these changes to attract an increasingly demanding and diverse public. Innovation is essential to present plant-based protein alternatives, plant-based dairy products, meat substitutes and other options that broaden the range of choices for consumers. Companies now have an opportunity to adapt to this trend by diversifying their product line.

3. Sustainability, a commitment from everyone

This was one of the most consensual themes at Fispal 2023. The food and beverage industry has a significant impact on the environment and on society. Therefore, sustainability could not fail to be one of the main highlights.

We saw how more and more companies betting on the development of greener solutions, such as biodegradable packaging or organic products. But we didn’t just watch: with MultiWasher, we made our contribution to more energy-efficient production processes and sustainable washing systems. Over the 4 days of the event, the fair became an essential and privileged space to disseminate, promote and share sustainable initiatives that contribute to building a more responsible industry aligned with the challenges of sustainable development.

4. Reducing costs and resources, the trend that has always existed

There is hardly any edition of Fispal where the importance of eliminating waste is not reinforced. The food and beverage industry is highly resource intensive and faces constant financial challenges and concerns. Therefore, reducing costs is essential for companies to remain healthy in an increasingly competitive market. Finding ways to reduce costs is important to ensure companies’ financial profitability and their investment in growth and innovation. This is an area where Somengil was in the spotlight at the fair, thanks to the MultiWasher. This state-of-the-art equipment saves resources such as energy, water, and raw materials.

It was 4 intense days of interaction, sharing, and mutual learning. We showed thousands of visitors how MultiWasher can help a wide variety of business areas, such as bakeries, desserts, meat, fruit, dairy products, pre-cooked products, raw materials and others. We remain committed to providing an exceptional washing experience, ensuring your large-scale sanitization processes rely on the most revolutionary technology to increase efficiency, safety and environmental responsibility. And we can’t wait to show you what’s new at the next edition of Fispal.
